Pinewood Derby Car Weights

The more your car weighs, the faster it will go on a downhill ramp. Most rules specify a 5 oz. maximum weight. Most Pinewood Derby cars weigh between 1.5 oz and 3.5 oz (depending on design) without weights so a car may need 3.5 oz or more of additional weight.

Wire Weights

These 1/4" diameter lead weights can be easily cut to any length with wire cutters, diagonal pliers or other cutting tools. These weights can be inserted into the bottom, back or side of your car.

A 5/16" drill bit is required to drill the holes in your car block.

The package comes with 3 sections for a total of 3 oz.

The best way to attach these weights is to drill one or more 5/16 " holes in the back, bottom or side of your car, insert the weights in the holes then glue them into place or cover with wood putty.

These are lead weights and
should not be handled by children.

Barrel Weights

Barrel weights are ideal for bringing the weight of your Pinewood Derby car up to roughly 5 oz. Each "Barrel" weighs about .25 oz. The package comes with six Barrels for a total of 1.5 oz.

Stick-On Weights

These 12 individual .25 oz weights work great for fine tuning the weight of your Pinewood Derby car. They have an adhesive backing so it is very easy to attach them to your car.
